Melocactus matanzanus (5.5cm)

Melocactus matanzanus (5.5cm)

This unique cactus is also known as the 'Dwarf's Turk Cap Cactus' because once it reaches a certain age, it produces a 'cephalium', a structure of wool and bristle, at the top of the stem which looks like a little cap. It's in this cephalium that the flower buds will then form and flower from. As a Cuban native, it doesn't like the cold very much so needs to be kept at temperatures of 10+ degrees.
